1. For you what is one of the hard commands to obey in Scripture?

 

2. Consider Deuteronomy 25:17-19 as you answer this question, “Why do you think God commanded Saul to totally wipe out the Amalekites?   a. He does not like competition  b. this cannot be the God of the Bible c. Sin has more terrifying consequences than we could possibly imagine d. other

 

3. Consider Joshua 6:24.  Was there any way the Amalekites could have been spared?  How was Rahab spared?

 

4. What would you say to someone who is afraid they have committed the unpardonable sin in light of this text?

 

5. Saul did not keep the commands of the Lord and he lost his kingdom.  What hope do you have since you too have not kept the commands of the Lord?

 

6. Who lays the part of Samuel in your life?  Who is serving as God corrector and encourager?

 

7. Saul had a hard time in fully obeying the Lord and as a result he faced much hardship later on in his life.  What can you learn from Saul’s life that can assist you in walking more fully with the Lord?

 

8. How has this passage helped you see your need for Christ more?  Where do you see pictures of Christ in this passage?

 

9. What is the one step of obedience you need to take as a result of hearing God’s Word today?
